I recently got to read a small newspaper article, by Consumer Affairs Editor Katie Morley, that `Best Before` dates on fresh fruit and vegetables at Tesco’s (other supermarkets are expected to follow suit) are to be scrapped. Just maybe consumers look at the best before date and confuse it with eat by or use by dates. I myself don’t believe in getting rid of these dates on packaging, they can be useful to know when the fruit and veg is still fresh. I hope other supermarkets don’t follow Tesco’s lead, I myself am not convinced that getting rid of best before dates is going to reduce food waste, but who knows really if I’m right, only time will tell on this one.

Do you agree `Best Before` dates should be scrapped on packaged fruit and veg?
